In this article, I will be highlighting on the myth and the truth about ab machines. Read on and decide for yourself are these ab machines really useful and do they worth your investment at all.

The Myth about ab machines: 

Your Exercise routines need to be coupled with "ab machines" to make the exercise work doubly well in helping you to get 6 pack abs.

The Truth about ab machines:

Most people have this wrong perception that in order to get 6 pack abs, they will just need to strengthen their abdominal muscles. Well, I would say that they are only 50% right. The fact is, in order to exhibit the 6 pack abs, you will have to first strip away that irritating abdominal fats that is covering your abdominal muscles. Only after you have stripped away that irritating abdominal fats then can u start the process of strengthening your abdominal muscles,and losing the abdominal fats is what the abs machines have failed to achieve.

Those abs machines or gadgets are designed and built for the sole purpose of mere strengthening of the abdominal muscles only. When it comes to losing the excessive abdominal fats, the ab machines or gadgets are totally useless in helping you to achieving that.

Forget about all the media bogus about all these so called wondrous amazing ab machines that promise to deliver you the perfect abs. And remember that only Real workout and Real nutrition strategies are able to help you to strip away those irritating abdominal fats. Real workout refers to workout that increases your metabolism and stimulates your fat-burning & muscle building hormones in your body.(Shall not elaborate on what workout is beneficial in this article )In order to reap the most benefits from the workout, you will also need to follow a nutritious diet as well. I mean, you cant be expecting to be seeing noticeable results when you are sweating all out today and eating your favorite McDonald's meal the next day.

Ok. Now, if we are to disregard the aspect about the fact that the ab machines are not useful in helping us lose fats. Lets assume that we are all great individuals with absolutely little or no abdominal fats and we would only want to strengthen on our abdominal muscles. Are these ab machines more useful or better than any abdominal exercises?

Well, I would still hold my stand that these ab machines are still not that useful after all. Yes, these ab machines may be useful with strengthening of the abdominal muscles but they are still far less effective when compared to the floor, hanging and standing abs exercises.

Therefore, my verdict would be: Try not to invest time and money on abs machines when there are other better abs exercises to help you get 6 pack ab.

So when my friend and personal trainer Frank Sherrill told me about the Bully Xtreme Home Gym I figured let me take a look at it. After all Frank has an incredible physique, so if he says it's a useful exercise device--I listened up!

Here is my unbiased opinion of the Bully Xtreme.

To tell the truth, I was expecting a typical bench and some kind of weights or resistance rods/tubes. The Bully Xtreme is far from that. I was also expecting a crazy price tag but he offers it at a very low price. According to Frank, the Bully Xtreme is a revolutionary and breakthrough exercise device that replaces dumbbells, cables and resistance bands.

Basically it looks like a bar with a cable around it and it measures about 34 to 35 inches but only weights 4 pounds. It really is a portable home gym I found myself being able to perform more than 82 muscle building -- result getting exercises -- as they like to phrase it on their web site.

I know what you are saying right now- "Sure Robert, if this Bully Xtreme is so good why have I not heard about it before?" That's the same question I posed to Frank. The Bully Xtreme Home Gym is a radical redesign of an old patent that had expired over 28 years ago.

Final Thoughts:

Make sure that the resistance bands you use are from a good quality manufacturer. Bands that are of poor quality... similar to plain old "rubber bands" lose their elasticity over time.

Cheap Exercise: Working Out At Home Using A Full-Body Routine

Working out at home seems to be fairly limited, but with the right exercises, you can do it effectively. Not to mention you save on a gym membership and the commute time. It's a lot easier than you may think, all you need to do is use your imagination and get creative. It's also a great way to build confidence in working out if you're a newbie to the fitness scene. Here are a few staple exercises, and the muscle groups they work out. For an animation of how to do these properly, you may want to either ask a friend or look them up on a search engine:

For Chest and Triceps
Pushups: Nothing too complicated here, simple get into pushup position with your hands at shoulder width. Go down slowly, and push up explosively. Place your hands wider for more chest action, and narrower for my triceps.

Dips: To do this, you need to be careful. Go between two parallel objects at waist level, and grip each. Lower yourself to the ground with your legs tucked back in suspension, then raise up.

For Back and Biceps
Pullups: See if you can find a stable bar or frame to grip at shoulder width, with palms facing you (for more bicep concentration) or palms away (working your back more).

Rows: With one knee/leg and one supporting arm on a bed and the other leg posted off, bend over and pick up an object off the ground, bringing it to your chest, and slowly back down. Flip around the other way and repeat for the other side

For Legs
Squats: With your back arched in proper form, bend the knees to bring yourself into a squatting position and raise back up

Lunges: With a weight in each hand, walk across a room doing deep lunging movement, nearly dragging your trailing leg across the ground

For Core
Simply do crunches, making sure to alternate between regular, and diagonal-motion to hit your oblique abs (abs on the side of your torso). Leg lifts work as well. To perform a leg lift, lay on the ground on your back, and simply raise your legs up, bending slightly at the knee.

Elliptical Trainer Ratings – About the machines that scored poorly

You have heard about the best elliptical trainer ratings and you know which machines have scored well in their elliptical trainer ratings, however have you heard about the machines that scored poor  elliptical trainer ratings? There are a few out there and they may be surprising to come form some very well trusted names in the exercise equipment industry. We will be going over the elliptical trainer ratings, to help save you the time and money form buying elliptical machines with poor elliptical trainer ratings. These machines received very low elliptical trainer ratings for obvious reasons that you will see.

Nordic Track surprisingly had their elliptical workout machines scoring very low elliptical trainer ratings which seems to some as a surprise since they have produced some very good machines in the past. However they did not receive such great elliptical trainer ratings because their products seemed to be focused more on features, then on the actual quality of the products themselves. It was found that many consumers were satisfied with their purchase since the products are very low in cost compared to other machines, however there were many reports of mechanical problems with the machine s itself. Due to this reason, it is no surprise that Nordic Tracks Elliptical machines received such low elliptical trainer ratings. It seems they could have had better construction in their products, then taking more time to add numerous features. The features are probably the best part of their machines, which probably contributes to their  elliptical trainer ratings, however due to mechanical problems, do not expect the features to last long.

Despite Proform having a great reputation, their 900 elliptical machine had some poor elliptical trainer ratings and it is surprising that the product is absolutely worthless. You would not think of any machine made by Proform to receive poor elliptical trainer ratings, however it seems that any of Proforms machines that are not in the EFX series, do not have the same comparable quality. Even the warranties are shorter then average. The Proform 900 elliptical does have some good qualities such as price and low noise, however it does not support heavy users and it is very wobbly. Due to the ninety day warranty, you can expect it to not last long at all which is probably a good indication why it received such poor elliptical trainer ratings. There is no doubt that Proform could have built a cheaper version of their EFX models, and would have received higher elliptical trainer ratings. If you are not buying a Proform EFX model, then it would be best to put your money elsewhere.

Horizon seems to fall into the same category as Nordic Track, which is why their machines also received some of the poorest elliptical trainer ratings for their machines. Their machines have some of the lowest stride lengths in the industry, are not built for tall people and seem to be highly unreliable as well as uncomfortable. Horizon just does not offer a quality product, especially for the prices they demand which is why their elliptical trainer ratings reflect how poor their machines are. Not only are the machines poor, but the selling price is unrealistic, especially when you can buy a better machine for the prices they say they need to be sold at. If you insist on buying a Horizon machine and want to completely ignore their poor elliptical trainer ratings, then it is highly recommended you try out their machines before you buy them.

By avoiding these machines and adhering to the elliptical trainer ratings associated with these products, you will be saving yourself a great deal of disappointment. Remember, these machines and manufacturers received poor elliptical trainer ratings for a reason. This does not mean the manufacturer is unreliable, it just means if they put more care an d quality in these products then they would have received a  better elliptical trainer rating.

Fitness As Seen On Tv: 5 Ways Shaky Science Can Mislead Viewers

Fitness As Seen On TV products are among the most popular exercise devices in America. Viewers become more confident in their decision to purchase these products when scientific studies purport to demonstrate product effectiveness.

Most consumers do not question the research behind the claims. But if you look more closely, you may be surprised at the weird science and partial truths that help sell exercise equipment.

A review of the studies cited in ads for several abdominal devices revealed basic research flaws that may have contributed to more favorable product results:

1. There were very few participants in some of the studies. Very small sample sizes of only 10 or 12 young, fit individuals limited how well the findings applied to the general public to which the fitness products were marketed. In addition, unequal numbers of men and women were tested together, which further skewed the results when products targeted women.

2. The studies did not compare "apples to apples". Reports indicated that the fitness devices produced greater muscle involvement, but this occurred only when very different, more demanding exercises were compared to the standard crunch. The products yielded far worse results in many cases. Some advertisers did post the disclaimer that best results were displayed.

3. Marketers claimed that the products were more effective, but the researchers never conducted experiments to support that claim. They simply read the muscle activity meter (the EMG) for a variety of exercises, including the standard crunch. There was no basis to claim greater product effectiveness because there was no attempt to make equivalent comparisons by controlling for the number of muscles involved, speed, range of motion, or other important variables.

4. Powerful statistical tools were used for the analyses, but assumptions for their appropriate use were not met. Inappropriate statistics likely distorted the findings in favor of the products.

5. Publications of the research were either presented in alternative or nonprofessional journals, press releases, or were not disclosed at all. Without the due process of peer review required for article publication in a professional journal, there is no clear evidence that the studies met the scientific standards established by experts in the field.

Think like a scientist. Do not accept statements about the testing of fitness infomercial products at face value. Be objective and open, but remain skeptical, especially if results of testing sound too good to be true.

To avoid being misled by shaky science, release your inner researcher the next time a new, revolutionary product captures your attention. Gather your own information about the product claims before you purchase. You may find that some fitness products are not quite as amazing as marketers would have you believe.
